Whiskey Wagon 101-The Original, and Why We Built It

You've probably haven't seen a whisky wagon before. That's not an accident of timing - it's because, until now, there wasn't one. Heritage Wagon Company built the first of it's kind: a real, hand-crafted historic covered wagon transformed into a working cocktail bar. It's not a trend we joined. It's something new we brought to Aspen, and we'd like to introduce you to the next best thing on the Colorado event scene.

What Exactly Is a Whiskey Wagon?

A whiskey wagon is a custom-built, vintage-style covered wagon converted into a fully functioning mobile bar — hot running water, full electric, and enough room to comfortably operate with two bartenders. It’s not a folding table with a tablecloth thrown over it, and it’s not a prop. It’s a real, working piece of Western heritage that happens to serve a phenomenal cocktail.

Depending on the mood you’re after, it becomes a Frontier Speakeasy — whiskey under the stars, dark leather accents, crystal decanters, wool blankets draped over wooden stools — or shifts into Pampas & Prosecco mode, with bubbles, spritzes, bundled sage, and natural linen for a high-country harvest feel.

Why We Built It

Modern event bars have started to feel interchangeable and not very exciting — a rented table, a black cloth, a few string lights if you’re lucky. We wanted something a guest would actually stop and look at. Something that felt like it belonged in Aspen’s history, not just at Aspen’s events. The wagon’s Western iconography does something a standard bar cart can’t: it becomes the room’s gathering point the moment people walk in, not just a place to get a drink.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do you provide the alcohol?

Our bartending packages are structured as dry-hire, third-party service — you bring the bottle, we bring everything else, including mixers, garnishes, ice, staffing, and insurance.

Does the wagon need power or water hookups on-site?

The Wagon is fully-equipped with running water, electric and contained plumbing. All we need is to be within 100 feet of a standard 20amp circuit.

Can it handle grass, gravel, or uneven ground?

Yes. It’s built and towed as a trailer, which makes it a strong fit for mountain venues, ranch properties, and outdoor terrain around Aspen and Colorado. We have leveling capabilities, and the wagon will look best and service will be the smoothest on a relatively flat area roughly the size of a standard parking space.

How far in advance should we book?

We operate year-round, 7 days a week. Because we only take on a limited number of events per weekend — especially during peak wedding season — we recommend reaching out as early as possible to check availability. Life is fleeting, and this important addition to your event shouldn't wait.

Do you only do weddings?

Not at all. The wagon works equally well for private parties, corporate events, music festivals, rodeos, community gatherings and even retail pop-ups.

How far will you travel?

We're based in Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley, and regularly travel throughout Colorado's resort communities — including Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, and Steamboat Springs — as well as the Front Range, including Denver, Boulder and Colorado Springs.
